Skin Cancers

Non-melanoma skin cancer includes basal cell skin cancer, squamous cell skin cancers and other rare types. They are the most common skin cancer, affecting up to 100,000 people in the UK every year. This type of skin cancer usually responds very well to treatment when diagnosed early so it’s important to seek assessment and diagnosis of any lumps or patches on the skin that do not heal after a few weeks.

TESTIMONIALS

Dr Heelan is am amazing consultant dermatologist. I first saw Dr Heelan when I noticed the most minute, irregular-looking freckle. Biopsy showed it to be a melanoma. I trust and respect Dr Heelan implicitly, she is kind, patient, understanding, extremely approachable, grounded and really easy to talk to. I have been seeing Dr Heelan for around 2 years now, every 3 months and I would never want to see anyone else. She is so knowledgeable, knows exactly what she’s looking at. So pleased to be in her safe hands.

I saw Dr Kara Heelan about a year and a half ago through the NHS when she was working at UCLH. She diagnosed a small lesion on my nose and also performed a punch biopsy. The results showed up to be infiltrative basal cell carcinoma and I subsequently needed MOHs surgery to remove this. The lesion was very small to the naked eye but Dr Heelan knew what she was looking at and her early diagnosis helped save my face. Dr Heelan was incredibly competent and professional during both the diagnostic appointment and the biopsy appointment. I am now currently trying to seek her out privately for a thorough skin cancer check-up.
